Rick Burt

A graduate of Middlebury College and the University of Minnesota School of Architecture, I have had the pleasure of working in offices small and large, with clients ranging from a single person to a large committee, on projects ranging from house additions to state capitols to huge industrial developments.
My career has taken me to Arrowstreet in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Gunnar Birkerts and Associates in Birmingham, Michigan; Moore Weinrich in Brunswick, Maine; Weinrich + Burt in Damariscotta, Maine; Leo A. Daly in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and finally to Richard Burt Architect in Boothbay Harbor. My architect's stamp has appeared on drawings for projects across the country and the globe.
One thing has remained constant through the years: my commitment to meeting the needs of my clients, in a way that best expresses their vision for the building we design together, while at the same time reflecting the constraints of the environment in which that building will exist.

Clients' Experience
"This process was new for all of us, and perhaps what was most reassuring was Rick's ability to listen to us carefully. What we needed, what we wanted, and any changes (very few) we felt strongly about were accommodated. It was truly a collaboration--and a happy one."
Jean Oplinger, Director
Farmington Public Library
"After several meetings considering many different options, our building committee made sone hard decisions and developed a plan for construction. For most people, it wasn't until they saw the models of the building set on the hillside that they realized how exciting the project would be. The models made it so easy to explain the committee's decisions and get people excited about the construction project"
Kathe Cheska, Development Director
Lincoln Academy
"Rick designs unique, high quality buildings, providing the expertise of a large firm while at the same time offering the personal involvement that can only come from a smaller one. He'd be at the top of my list if I were hiring an architect to design a building for myself."
